Civil War: 1863 App Reviews

To be clear, I have purchased every hex game you have and all the add one. 1863 is really pissing me off. First strike deserted house is ridiculous on casual. In playing the confederate side, the troops actually hit something once every FIVE shots compared to the union at once every 1.8 times (I played 5 games and kept count). I found a forum in 2012 where you recognized the problem and its not fixed. FIX IT

I would be getting the complete games instead of just a portion. Very fun, but it almost seemed like false advertising. Its almost better to just play the free version.

The appearance of invisible enemies makes it hard to plan strategy. Still a fun game.

I own ALL 24 games (+ Add-ons) HexWar is a MUST HAVE series, for history buffs & war nutz alike... The Civil War series starts off slow, but improves greatly w/ each release. "Gettysburg" is the best of the series ...BY FAR!!! P.S. Worth every $, but the add-on missions could cost half that...

Could have been better. Did not like having to constantly change the infantry into a formation, wasting a turn; and a lot of missed opportunities to engage the enemy because of a specific unit not being able to move. But I do enjoy this game a lot.

This game looks stupid without a flag for the confederacy. I wish I could get a refund. Why doesnt Apple demand that all WW2 games showing a swastika be pulled as well? Stupid. Strategy gamers suffer because Apple wants to make a flipping political statement and deny historical events. Stupid game now.

Unbelievable. Political correctness at its worst. The U.S.A vs (CENSORED)...

The level "Ambush" under "Victory Road" is almost impossible to win on casual (as of newest update). I cannot beat it and therefore cannot progress past level 2 of the "Victory Road" campaign. Before the update, I used to be able to beat it (just slightly, at that). Please lower the rank (veterancy) of the raiders in ambush or raise the rank of the wagon defenders. The best you can do is set up the wagons as blockades, but the enemy still smashes through it. Otherwise, the game is great. The levels are well thought out and some are challenging (but not too hard) to overcome. Please add a few more two player maps though- I find that 15 isnt enough :)

I loved this game then it updated, changed and erased all my games and progress. Ill be deleting this game. Thanks a lot.

Fun hex based game. Worth time. Reminds me of an old game on PC, civil war.

I doubt theres a programmer involved in this foolish mess whos ever been closer to battle than crossing the street. You fight battles with toy soldiers. Youre allotted a few men and the enemy is an entire army with fortifications. Youre told theres no time for strategy in this one, just charge straight ahead. Thats actually pretty good advice, because youre going to die anyway. And thats the mid level. In the hard level you get one Boy Scout with a broken slingshot.

I played the free version before this, and I liked it.... So I bought it thinking there would be way more levels but there werent.. Still a good game

Hey all you Confederate Stars-and-Bars haters! If a flag equals RACISM, then maybe the American Stars-and-Stripes needs erasure too. More slaves were brought in under "our" flag than under "theirs" -- you know this, right? Maybe we should also erase the 18 US Presidents who were slave owners? Oh right... The GAME. All progress ERASED! Casual play even HARDER than before! Shoot the Hunted Cow already.

I bought the full version now they want a 1.99 for each additional level after you defeat what they have available. I can see at least six locked levels so that is 12 bucks to keep playing...come on now that is crazy

This is really a lot of fun. Good historical flavor and quick playing battles. Couldnt ask for more.

I love this game. Lots of fun. Cant wait for more. I recommend it.

I have enjoyed the game and the accompanying snatches of history. However, there is one of the purchased unlocked battles, something Hill where even though the game acknowledges that I have meet the objectives, it will not register a win allowing me to continue to the next battle.

I really like this game it,s fun and challenging

I paid for the full version of this app and when it was updated, it reverted back to the initial trial version and wants me to pay again for the full version.

Pretty fun game. Wish there will be more levels.
